IFS Intensives grants you Time, Pace and Space
Intensive sessions have had an amazing effect on my clients who chose to use this framework for therapy. Longer than the traditional 50-minute sessions, intensives grant more time and space to use IFS to connect with parts in the way they need and at the pace they need. This lends to understanding parts on a deeper and more intimate level.
For both protectors and exiles, whom are typically young and stuck in the past, spending more time with them in a deliberate and patient way, sends them the message that they are important and valued.
By choosing to devote more time and space to your parts, you are already starting the process of opening up the channels of communication between your adult Self and your young parts. Even fierce, protective parts who would prefer to be left alone to do their jobs and who may not trust your intentions, will most often feel appreciated, honored and respected when given the time and attention they need.
Honoring, appreciating and valuing your protective parts are key to helping them soften and trust that you are the one that can alleviate their burdens and heal the exile they protect.
IFS Intensives are a good Fit for you if...
If you are moved to, or are longing to, spend deep, quality time with your parts to connect with them in a different way and to understand their story from their perspective, IFS Intensives are a wonderful tool to use to accomplish that.
Using IFS Intensives, you can devote a set amount of time to focus on a goal, situation or experience and not have to spend a year or more in therapy. IFS intensives gives you the opportunity to carve out time solely for you, and can be the first step towards balancing your life and caring for yourself.
If you already have a therapist but are stuck and need adjunct support for a brief period, IFS intensives can help with unblocking the barriers, walls and obstacles that are preventing you from moving forward in your therapy.
I recommend IFS Intensives for people who have a good support system in place, and for people who have not had suicidal thoughts in the past 3 months and have not been hospitalized for mental health reasons in the past 12 months.
If you have questions, comments or are unsure about intensives/longer sessions, connect with me by filling out my inquiry form to set up a consultation call. Or send me an email at jennielee1111@icloud.com and I will respond to back to you. Through either the consultation call or email, I will give you space to share your thoughts, feelings and questions.
What I Offer
IFS Intensives provides an experience that can help you better understand your protectors on a deeper level.
At this depth of understanding, your protectors can be more willing to give you the space needed to heal the exiles of your internal system.
IFS Intensive Packages and Pricing:
IFS Intensives can be viewed as short-term IFS therapy using longer sessions to focus on a goal.
Whether your goal is to learn more about your internal system or to bring more awareness and understanding to a part, or to focus on a particular issue, we will spend the amount of time that you choose to gain more insight and wisdom about the situation and about yourself.
See the box below for pricing, scheduling and examples of packages. Based on your goals and needs we can create a package that makes sense for you.
PRICING:
90-minute session: $225 ($150/hour)
2-hour session: $300 ($150/hour)
SCHEDULING:
Because intensive sessions are longer, I schedule them on a short-term basis. You have a range of options and we can discuss what makes sense for you, your finances and your availability.
Intensive sessions can be scheduled either 1 or 2 days per week; on a weekly or biweekly basis; and for 2 to 10 weeks.
EXAMPLES:
As an example, if you choose 90-minute sessions, we can meet for 4 sessions (6 hours total), whether weekly or biweekly.
Another example is if you choose 2-hour sessions, we can meet for 5 weeks (10 hours total), whether weekly or biweekly.
No matter what you choose, each session will be focused on the goal we agreed to focus on for your intensive sessions.
Contact me if you have questions and/or want to discuss what works best for you.
Rates are reduced for my current clients.
Students may qualify for a discount.
I understand that this is an investment. As we know, investing in your self-care is an important priority and simultaneously, I am aware that making this decision can bring up many conflicting thoughts and feelings.
Because the purpose of the intensive is to focus on on your goal, this could be a one-time experience. No need for ongoing weekly or biweekly sessions. In fact, weekly sessions typically cost $160 to $200 per session. If you attend 48 weeks of therapy per year, that adds up to $7680 to $9600 a year.
If you want to discuss this more, contact me to set up a free 20-minute consultation and I’m happy to answer your questions and hear your thoughts and feelings.
What is the Process?
Contact me to set up a free consultation. In the consultation call, along with answering your questions, we will discuss what you want to focus on (your goal) and the number and length of sessions that work for you.

step 3
On the day of your first intensive session, we will use the first part of the session to discuss and narrow down the goal for your intensive. The remainder of the first session and subsequent sessions will be focused on the goal of your intensive.
step 4
On the final day of your intensive, we will conclude the session with discussions for follow-up, if needed, and after-care.
FAQs
about IFS Intensives
-
IFS Intensive Therapy is a form of short-term therapy with longer sessions, and use Internal Family Systems Therapy to help you go deeper while focusing on a goal. For example, instead of attending therapy 50-minutes per week for a year, you choose to spend 90 minutes or 2 hours in session over a course of 2 days or up to 10 weeks. This allows you to spend a condensed amount of time focusing on a goal or situation instead of spreading it out over months, a year or years. It’s an approach that can bring about an experience that you otherwise may not get in traditional 50-minutes sessions.
-
IFS Intensives are perfect for people that are interested in using IFS, are ready for deep exploration, and have had therapy/are in therapy or have a good support system in place. If you are ready for change within you, your life and your relationships but don’t have time every week or don’t want to be in therapy every week for a year or two or more - an IFS Intensive may be right for you. If you have a specific topic, trauma, or stressor that you want support with - this can be the focus of your IFS Intensive. The dedicated time will be customized specifically to you and your goals.
-
IFS Intensives tends to be more effective and efficient than normal 50-minute therapy sessions. Typically in a 50-minute session, there are at least 5-10 minutes of “check-in” at the start of the session and usually, 5-10 minutes spent on “wrapping up” at the end of a session - leaving only 30-40 minutes for deep therapeutic work. IFS Intensives are different in that a 2-hour/1-day IFS session will allow for over 1.5 hours of depth work. That’s the equivalent of two to three or more, 50-minute sessions - in one day.
-
Great question. This depends on your goals for the IFS Intensives. Some goals can be reached in 3 to 4 hours but other goals are more complex and may require more hours. We can discuss the number of hours/days that would work best for your therapy goals.
-
Yes! IFS Intensives work very well as an adjunct therapy. Please sign a Release of Information so that your current therapist and I can collaborate/coordinate to best serve you.
-
IFS Intensives are not covered by insurance. However, if you have out-of-network benefits, and I am NOT in network with your insurance, your insurance company may reimburse a portion of the IFS Intensives. I can provide you with a superbill (a special receipt) to submit to your insurance. It’s best to call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card to learn the details about your specific plan.
If I am in network (INN) with your insurance, you WON’T be reimbursed for Intensive sessions and CAN’T submit a superbill for reimbursement. However, for new clients, if I am INN with your insurance, I can submit a claim to your insurance for a 1-hour Pre-Intensive Intake session and for a 1- hour Post-Intensive session so that you only pay the copay for those sessions and will be responsible for paying the Intensive sessions (90-minute or 2-hour) out of pocket.
-
A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at the time you book your IFS Intensives. The remaining 50% is due on the first day of the Intensive Session. I am open to discussing what works best for you in terms of your payment schedule and how you want to pay.
For current clients, your debit/credit card on file will be charged in the same manner that your debit/credit card is charged for your regular sessions.
